

The PlayBook is believed to be the long-rumored device that will finally dethrone Apple’s very popular iPad. Research in Motion further claimed that, the PlayBook is set to out to be the best professional-grade tablet in the industry. Basically, this new tablet device focuses not only on catering the needs of professionals in the corporate world, but offers multitasking to other BlackBerry fans as well.
The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet sports a 7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1024x 600 and comes with full multi-touch and gesture support, this seems to rival the Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is set to be launched before the year ends. In addition to this, the PlayBook also comes with the following detailed specs:
- Runs the BlackBerry OS with support for symmetric multi-processing
- Powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- Equipped with dual HD cameras that supports 1080p HD video recording
- Supports video and audio playback
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- Comes with various connectors such as microHDMI, microUSB and charging contacts
- Supports various applications such as WebKit/HTML-5, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Adobe Mobile AIR, Adobe Reader, POSIX, OpenGL, Java

The PlayBook is scheduled for release within the second quarter of 2011, but price details remain undisclosed as of this time. However, some believed that the PlayBook might carry a price that is relatively higher than that of the iPad. For now, let us just wait and see if RIM will be able to deliver what it has promised and if it the PlayBook will be able to bring RIM back in the game.
